About Us
The Rising Sun playhouse and kindergarten school was started by an eminent academician Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, under the Jaideep Talukdar Foundation Trust. The other trustees are Mrs. Samita Talukdar and Mr. Santanu Banerjee. The Principal of the school is Mrs. Dalia Ghosh, and the Vice Principal is Ms. Sarojee Chetri.
Dr. Talukdar holds Master’s and PhD degrees in Engineering from the USA, and a BTech from IIT Kharagpur. He has over three decades of experience in academia, in schools, colleges and universities, both in India and the US.
Mrs. Dalia Ghosh has over 20 years of experience as Vice Principal and teacher of well established kindergarten schools and has facilitated the successful graduation of thousands of kindergartners to reputed high schools.
Governing Body
The Governing Body (GB) of The Rising Sun School is an apex body, constituted to make policy decisions about the governance, administration and functioning of the school. The GB typically meets twice a year and recommends an action plan with the school’s mission and vision in mind. The members of the GB are:

Why Us
The Rising Sun is dedicated to creating a superior kindergarten and playschool for young children in the heart of Salt Lake, Kolkata. We offer an intimate academic and social setting, and ensure that each child gets individual attention in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our school provides the best opportunity to nurture children in a loving and caring garden of harmony in the community. This is a co-educational English medium school with pre-primary classes where Hindi/Bengali is taught as per individual parents preference. We prepare our children for admission to different reputed high schools.
Emphasis is given on oral fluency from the beginning. We have been successful in placing our children in 35 top schools of Kolkata. Members of our teaching staff are very well qualified, Montessori trained and experienced. They have been working with young minds since the late 80s.
As the number of students in each class is restricted, the teachers provide a personal touch to help each child grow, progress and develop confidently. We work effectively with various Montessori apparatus to make the child aware of his/her immediate environment.

Curriculum
The curriculum is designed scientifically by keeping in mind the daily needs of children in a healthy environment. Music, dance, recitation, creative arts and story-narration play a vital role in our curriculum. Learning becomes more enjoyable through these techniques, administered using conventional as well as computer-based methods.
We encourage each child to explore the new world through the magic of Multi-Media which makes their lessons more exciting. Yoga for health, concentration, and good habit formation is integrated in our school curriculum to enrich the child’s wholesome development.
In addition to Merit Certificates for all children, the school also issues individual Yoga and Computer Certificates to all enrolled students. Book fairs organized by our school give an opportunity to our young toddlers to explore the world of knowledge.
The school has spacious, airy class rooms and a sufficient play area for the children. Organized trips to outdoor venues gives them the best opportunity to know the Nature. Through the Annual Sports meet, cultural programs and excursions we provide the best training to our little toddlers to face the outside world with confidence and joy.
Rules and Regulations
1. Identity Cards: Parents/Guardians should bring the Identity Cards when they come to pick up their children. A child will only be allowed to leave the school against the presentation of an Identity Card by his/her/parent/guardian. The card, if lost, must be reported to the school immediately, for necessary action.
2. Punctuality and Times: The child must be sent to school regularly and punctually by 9 A.M. The main gate will be closed at 9.15 A.M. Latecomers will not be allowed to join the prayers. Parents sending children by transport must ensure that they bring and take back their children well in time.
3. School Uniforms: Children should be dressed in comfortable clothes and carry an extra set of clothes. They should not wear any valuables or watches. Each child should carry a napkin in his/her bag.
4. Diary: The Diary must be brought to school every day. Parents must check the diaries regularly and the diaries will be collected by the class teacher on Friday and returned on Monday; if they are absent on Friday they will hand over their diaries on Monday.
5. Textbooks, exercise books, tiffin box, water bottle, and all articles carried by a child should be properly labeled with his/her name and class written on them.
6. Meeting with the Principal: In case of an urgent need, a parent may meet the Principal.
7. Tiffin: Light snacks and fruits should be given to children which will enable them to learn table manners.

• Birth Certificate of Municipal Corporation (in original) to be shown in the office (returnable)
• Xerox (photocopy) of Birth Certificate to be submitted in the office
•One passport size and two stamp size photograph to be submitted in the office

Akshat has learnt a lot this year, and that wouldn't have been possible without his teachers' guidance. I am very happy that he has got caring and loving teachers who teaches him well and makes him understand even through online sessions given the situation, which is really commendable and I have observed that the teachers give every child equal opportunity in class to speak or give answers, and they don't carry on until each student know the topics or lesson. There wouldn’t be a better school for my child and I thank you for working so hard for these young minds.
